If you’ve ever peeled your own garlic, you know what a nuisance it can be. You’ve got that sticky, garlic smell all over your hands and all those thin, clingy garlic skins everywhere. Garlic is a pretty essential ingredient, so unless you’re buying pre-cleaned cloves, it’s just one of those chores you have to deal with. Make the job easy for yourself with this super neat trick from Saveur Magazine!
All you need is your head of garlic and two bowls. No knife. No sticky fingers. Check it out!
If the video doesn’t work, here are the general instructions:
- Hit your head of garlic with the heel of your palm to break it apart. Put the cloves in one of the bowls, and invert the other bowl on top so that you have a big sphere.
- Shake the bowls vigorously, knocking the garlic around inside the sphere for about 10 seconds. Open up the top of the bowl, and check it out! There should be freshly peeled garlic cloves inside.
