Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas with Nuts

Celebrate the return of cult classic TV show Arrested Development, returning to the small screen this Sunday, May 26th, by making a few of your own Chocolate Covered Bananas (with nuts)! They’re delicious (and actually not too bad for you), and they’ll do Bluth’s Original Frozen Banana Stand proud. Maybe you can even start your own banana stand! There’s always money in the banana stand.

Chocolate Covered Bananas with Nuts for Arrested Development

Feel free to giggle at their silly appearance and name — that is the only reaction you can have to the phrase “chocolate covered banana with nuts” after all.

Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas with Nuts

  • 5-6 bananas, peeled
  • wooden popsicle sticks
  • 12 oz solid semisweet chocolate
  • 1 tbsp margarine, optional
  • chopped nuts (I used hazelnuts), optional

  • Prepare your bananas by cutting 1 inch off the end of each and inserting a popsicle stick into the cut end of each. Put them on a lined baking sheet and pop them into the freezer for an hour. (Alternatively, you can cut the bananas in half instead, so they're easier to eat).
  • Melt your chocolate and butter in a bowl over simmering water. Set aside once it's all liquid.
  • Set up your chopped nuts (if using) and chocolate in trays to prepare for dipping.
  • One at a time, dip your frozen bananas into the chocolate, then the nuts, and transfer it back to the sheet. Pop them in the freezer again once you're done.
  • Once they're all frozen, you can store them in an air-tight, sealed container together, or individually wrapped, or you can just enjoy them as is!
